Expanded Office and Services in Grand Haven

Posted: Nov 7, 2022 | Last Updated: Nov 7, 2022

GH-groupOrthopaedic Associates of Muskegon (OAM), the largest orthopaedic practice on the lakeshore, is pleased to announce the opening of a new expanded office in Grand Haven. The new office is located on the 2nd floor of the Harbor Dunes Health Center, 1445 Sheldon Road and is more than four times the size of the practice’s previous Grand Haven office.

With the enlarged space, OAM will now offer walk-in orthopaedic urgent care in Grand Haven for those who experience a bone or joint injury and need to be seen right away. The OAM orthopaedic urgent care center charges physician office rates, which are much lower than traditional urgent care centers and emergency rooms. A visit to OAM orthopaedic urgent care also allows patients to be seen immediately by an orthopaedic specialist. Urgent care hours at the Grand Haven location are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday, with future plans to extend hours to weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. OAM’s walk-in orthopaedic urgent care located at 1400 Mercy Drive in Muskegon currently offers extended hours and is open from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

In addition to walk-in orthopaedic urgent care, the new office includes more space for x-rays, new procedure rooms for pain injections, and a durable medical equipment (DME) store on-site. The larger office will also allow several physicians to expand their hours and see more patients at the Grand Haven location. Physicians who will offer expanded hours in Grand Haven include Foot/Ankle Specialist Dr. John Khoury, Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Lindsay Rudert, Spine Specialist Dr. Jeffrey Lamping, and Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Eric Turner. Several other OAM physicians see patients in Grand Haven as well: Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Andrew Alwood, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Dirk Bakker, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Rick Baszler, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation /Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. John Hawkins, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist Dr. Neil Droppers, and Orthopaedic Surgeon and Hand Specialist Dr. Christine Bowman. Physician Assistant Julie Gortsema will join the practice in December and will focus on urgent care in Grand Haven.

“We are excited to grow our presence in the Tri-Cities,” said OAM Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Cave. “The number of patients we see from northern Ottawa County has risen steadily in recent years, and our Muskegon urgent care has become extremely busy since opening in 2018.  Our physicians have been educated at some of the world’s most prestigious medical institutions, and it is very satisfying to know we are bringing the finest orthopaedic talent with expertise in the latest technology to the West Michigan lakeshore.”
